Becoming a participant

All prospective IUA participating universities will be assessed against the following criteria by a panel comprising IUA senior staff and representative current participants:

Values and organizational standing: Participants should express a clear purpose and values that promote the highest quality international programs and placement support to students and business partners. Values include quality, integrity, innovation and collaboration.
Learning environment: Participants should complete thorough pre-commencement, follow-up, general and premises audits to ensure student-focused learning environments. Subsequent audits should be conducted regularly to ensure continued quality of learning environments.
Faculty and institutional effectiveness: All faculty are required to have the qualifications and experience appropriate to the degree program and levels they are teaching. Additionally, participants should routinely conduct faculty observations, offer continued professional development and extend supplemental training as needed. It is desirable that teaching staff be experienced in and demonstrate an understanding of the requirements of international students.
Learning resources: Participants should set and exceed benchmarks in classrooms, furniture, equipment, technology, textbooks and student spaces.

Career advising: IUA participants should offer practical and other opportunities for achieving industry experience during their academic career.
Student experience: IUA participants should provide a dedicated, student-centered and highly personalized experience in a well-knit community of students and staff.
Method of instruction: All teaching and learning strategies will be designed towards student-centered, independent learning, including delivery methods such as lectures, seminars, tutorials, case studies, surveys, lab work and practical classes. International students are expected to develop proficiencies in study skills, individual and group presentation, project work and assignments.
Institutional integrity: Participants express and utilize clear codes of conduct and procedures to ensure a high standard of institutional integrity as reflected in guiding documents and audit procedures.
